Pet Owners / Care Takers
The brain can affect behavior, but how can we change it?
Like people, animals have different personalities, different responses to triggers, different life experiences, and of course, different genetics that also govern the way the brain functions. But whatever the reason that led to your pet's unwanted behavior, by diagnosing and then tailoring a treatment plan for the behavior issue, we will work with you on gradually minimizing the issue so that your pet and you can have a better quality of life.
We offer two consultation options:
A. Classic consultation - this will require you to travel with your pet to see Dr. Stollar in Massachusetts at least once a year as long as you continue the process with him. It might also include online video chats or phone calls. Dr. Stollar will become the doctor in charge of the case and will also prescribe behavioral medications when required.
B. New vet-to-vet consultation - this is the best option for clients who cannot travel to be seen by Dr. Stollar. e.g. clients in different states or countries, or clients in MA who cannot travel for different reasons. Dr. Stollar will collect the behavioral history directly from you online (video or phone chat) and will send you a visit summary with the optional recommended treatment which is somewhat similar to the classic consultation, but your primary veterinarian will remain the doctor in charge of the case and will also be prescribing the medications. Your veterinarian will have to contact Dr. Stollar directly for information about the process.
No Magic Drugs
The consultation process is comprised of history gathering and observation of the pet (when possible). It concludes with a treatment plan that contains behavior modification, environmental management, and sometimes supplements and medications. Then regular follow-ups will make sure that you and your pet are on the right track. If not, fine-tuning or changing the treatment plan as needed to fit your pet the best way possible.
